2016Ford C-Max For Sale In Saskatoon
If any vehicle shows just how much the North American and European auto markets differ at times, the 2016 Ford C-Max has to be that vehicle. If you ever hear a European dismissing North American autos as gas guzzlers, remember to point to the C-Max and the fact it's only sold on this side of the Atlantic as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. In Europe, however, the C-Max is only available with gas or diesel power plants.
The 2016 Ford C-Max is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that became the Blue Oval's first hybrid-only line of vehicles when it was first launched here in October 2012. The range comprises of the C-Max Hybrid, which is available in S and SE trims, and the plug-in hybrid C-Max Energi that's only available in one high-spec trim.
It seems only right with an all-hybrid lineup of models to get straight into the propulsion systems and their obvious benefits in terms of fuel economy. A 2.0-litre inline-4 gasoline engine is coupled with two electric motors to give a combined 195 horsepower in the 2016 Ford C-Max, which is a substantial 54 horsepower more than that offered by the last Prius. The C-Max Energi offers the added advantage of a useful all-electric driving range of more than 32 km, which is down to the inclusion of a larger 7.6-kwh battery, compared to the 1.4-kwh unit in the standard C-Max hybrid. All models send the power to the front wheels through an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT).
As for that all-important fuel economy, the hybrid gets you 5.6 L/100 km in the city and 6.4 L/100 km on the highway, while the plug-in offers an impressive combined figure of 2.7 Le/100 km running on electricity and gas.
It would be somewhat remiss if a vehicle with such advanced propulsion systems wasn't positively bristling with features and technology, but there are no worries in that direction with the 2016 Ford C-Max. Every C-Max Hybrid comes standard with: 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-speaker audio system with USB and auxiliary input jacks, the Sync voice-control system and plenty more besides. There's also the excellent SmartGauge digital display system with InfoGuide screens, which lets the driver see only desired information about the energy consumption and operations of the car.
Stepping up to the SEL version of the C-Max Hybrid adds the latest Sync 3 infotainment system, heated and leather-trimmed front seats, keyless ignition with proximity sensing, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors and some rather attractive ambient LED interior lighting. As for the C-Max Energi, you get all the same features as the Hybrid SEL but with a few notable additions, such as a pair of 4.2-inch configurable colour LCD screens in the instrument cluster, remote start, and the MyFord Mobile app with a 5-year service agreement.
